Appropriate Uses Of Visitors' Parking Hangtags

Homewood Campus

It has been brought to the attention of the Homewood Parking and Traffic Advisory Committee that some offices have been using visitors' parking hang-tags inappropriately. Homewood faculty, staff and students are not eligible to use parking hang-tags, and tickets will be issued to the offenders. The Office of Security has been asked to survey visitor hang-tag usage at campus parking meters and to ticket Homewood faculty, staff and students using visitor hang- tags. Any department to be found consistently misusing visitor hang-tags will be precluded from purchasing them from the Parking Office.

It is the responsibility of each department issuing hang-tags to explain their correct usage. Please inform all staff members who are responsible for visitor parking hang- tags to:

  • treat the hang-tags with the same level of security as petty cash and postage stamps (at $4.00 each);

  • stamp or print (in ink) the date on the front of the hang-tag;

  • instruct the visitor to park only at an open metered space or in the visitor section of P lot;

  • instruct guests (for use at meters) to place the hang-tag on the rear-view mirror with the dated side facing the windshield or (for use in the visitors' section of P lot) instruct guests to give the hang-tag to the lot attendant along with their ticket when they leave the parking lot.

  • Adherence to these procedures will ensure that adequate visitor parking will be available for all departments and campus visitors.

    Please review these guidelines for using visitors' parking hang-tags with your staff to ensure cooperation from all offices. Thank you for your cooperation.
