H. ALAN SHAPIRO, the W. H. Collins Vickers Professor of Archaeology, is a professor in the Classics Department. A renowned classic archaeologist, he is particularly interested in Greek art, myth, and religion in the Archaic and Classical periods. Dr. Shapiro has written numerous studies of Greek vase iconography, including Myth into Art: Poet and Painter in Classical Greece. Currently at work on a study of hero cults in fifth-century Athens, he has organized several exhibitions of Greek vases. Dr. Shapiro joined the faculty in 1997.
